All Saints Day: Many family visitors attended church on Sunday, Nov. 1, to help honor their loved ones during the All Saints Day celebration.  The family members of Kathy Brant, Russ Laub, Daniel Linn and Warren Mount were able to light a special candle for their loved one and George Millard lit one for Ethel Rhoades and Errol Wilson, whose family members were unable to attend. The six honored were long-time members of the Rippey congregation. The rest of the congregation was invited to light a memory candle as well. The lit candles made the already beautifully decorated altar sparkle. It was a lovely service.

News in and around Rippey:

The Halloween party held at the Rippey library on Saturday, Oct. 31, was enjoyed by those attending. Due to the low numbers, everyone was excited to receive a prize and had plenty of goodies to take home! Maralynn Rinker and Jean Borgeson were in charge of the festivities.

Virgene Morse and Jean Borgeson enjoyed the Madrid High School drama department presentation of “Pumpkin Stuffers” by Geoff Moyer on Saturday evening, Oct. 31, in the Madrid elementary school building. The individual short skits stared several Halloween classic characters and included a surprise for Frank N. Stien, an interview with a werewolf, a few giggling witches stirring their brew (they really had their giggles down), a befuddled fortuneteller, Mr. Vampire and Dracula having a family spat, a couple of ghosts in and out, and Dr. Frankenstein having a huge problem with his servants Ager, Egor, Igor and Ohgher until the zombie stepped in to help. The kids were having fun and the audience was entertained.

Virgene’s granddaughter Madelyn Ostendorf was part of the cast. Dessert was enjoyed afterwards at the home of Terry and Diane Ostendorf, their daughter Michaela and her friend Kenton Reece. Madelyn visited for a while before going to a cast party.
